The Hogs Committee has decided to do away with its cash payment system with immediate effect. This means that members will no longer be able to pay for games in cash. All payments must be made either through an EFT or by depositing cash into the Hogs banks account.

The decision was taken for a number of reasons, the most obvious being the risk associated with carrying cash, often for extended periods, the need to lessen the administrative burden on the committee when having to take time out of the office to deposit the cash as well as the high cash handling fees charged by the banks.

The cashless system is implemented with immediate effect – so if you are playing in the game at Houghton on 21 February, make sure you make an electronic payment before the game as no cash payments will be accepted on the day.

Hogs has been using the Nomad handicap system for a number of years. The system was originally implemented to compensate for flaws in the SAGA handicap system which could result in the same golfer winning prizes in many consecutive matches.

Making sure that Hogs members’ Nomad handicaps were kept up to date has always been a time consuming task. The Nomad handicap system has often also created confusion – especially when guests and sponsors played in Hogs games.

Over the years the SAGA handicap system has been refined and amended to the point where it is no longer necessary to implement and maintain the Nomad system. In future all Hogs members will pay off their official SAGA handicap at Hogs games.

The committee will continue to monitor to ensure a fair spread of prizes across the field
