Changes to Hogs Constitution

During the Hogs AGM in April, members approved the following two changes to the constitution:

  1. The Hogs committee may use their discretion to increase/decrease the number of sponsor players who participate in games. Currently this number is limited to 2 (two) players per game.
  2. Eskom employees who resign or retire from Eskom may retain their Hogs membership provided that their annual membership fees are up to date. Hogs members who had previously resigned or retired from Eskom may reapply for membership.

To request a complete copy of the minutes of the AGM please contact Carol Allers at AllersCA@eskom.co.za

Play for Knock-Out Plate

A big shout out to Club Captain  and Knock-Out Director, Naren Balram.  During the AGM earlier this week he introduced the Les West Individual Knockout Plate Competition.  The plate trophy (sponsored by Glenn Leamy) allows all losers in the 1st round of the Knock-Out Cup Competition a second bite at the cherry and the chance of redeeming themselves and restoring their self-esteem.  Keep an eye on your mailbox for further information.

Rules for Scorecards

Over the last few weeks we have had quite a few discrepancies regarding scorecards.

These include the incorrect scores being returned on holes, incorrect adding up and also the player and marker scorecards not tallying up although being signed off.

It is the players and their designated markers who bear the responsibility for recording their scores in golf. Your gross scores on each hole (on your card) must tally with your gross scores on your marker’s card.

We should all get used to confirming the gross score immediately after putting out on a hole. By doing so, there should be no discrepancies at the end of the round and the marking and signing of our cards will be fluid and correct.

Below are a few rules the committee will apply:

If you record a wrong total score, the Committee will correct the error, without penalty to the competitor.

If you return a score for any hole lower than actually taken (as evidenced by the marker’s scorecard), you may be disqualified.

If you return a score for any hole higher than actually taken, the score as returned stands .
